Find a court case, docket, or judgment
The Clerk is the custodian of Circuit and County court records and provides dockets, filings, and certified copies.
Look up a deed, mortgage, or lien
All deeds and most real estate liens are recorded at the county level by the Official Records division.
Check who owns a property and its value
The Appraiser lists the folio (parcel) number, owner, situs address, values, and property characteristics.
Obtain a birth or death certificate
Florida vital records are issued through the Department of Health; eligibility and ID requirements apply.
Get a police or crash report
Incident and crash reports are held by the agency that took the report; report numbers and dates help locate files.

Official Miami-Dade and Florida agencies hold the authoritative records you need for court filings, certified deeds, and vital certificates. Use the Clerk, Recorder, Appraiser, police departments, and the health department for documents that may require certification. Background check services can help with broad, name-based searches across many locations, but they do not replace the county clerk, recorder, court, or vital records offices for official copies.
Search the Clerk of the Courts by party name and narrow by filing year or division. If it’s a traffic matter, a citation number can also locate the case.
Official Records are primarily indexed by names and document numbers. Use the Property Appraiser to find the folio and owner name, then search Official Records by the owner or legal description.
Florida restricts birth records to eligible applicants with valid ID. Request certified copies through the Department of Health in Miami-Dade; availability depends on your relationship and event year.
Request it from the agency that took the report—Miami-Dade Police or the relevant city police department. Provide the report number, date, and location; some crash reports are available through the state portal.
The Clerk issues marriage licenses and keeps the license record; certified marriage certificates are issued through Florida’s vital records. Divorce case files, including final judgments, are held by the Clerk of the Courts.
Confirm ownership and folio with the Property Appraiser, check the Official Records for recorded liens, and review tax bill status with the county tax authority. City code liens may be held by the municipality.
